howdy, i'm cee. work started on this place back in 2022 and it's gone through many iterations since then.
i have always appreciated the simplicity and efficiency of Web 1.0. growing up in the early 2000s, i got online as the internet was shifting to a more "modern" look, but the bright, colorful personal sites of the past, built with basic HTML, CSS, and maybe some Javascript, all left a lasting impression of what it meant to be on the information superhighway.
i've wanted to create a page like this for a while, something modular and easy to edit with a simple text editor like Notepad. i learned HTML in high school and mostly used it for editing Tumblr themes. since that was a while ago now, i thought i should try to refresh at least some of my knowledge as a fun hobby/learning exercise (i will die before i learn how to use CSS for real *EDIT* dec-04-23: am now reluctantly learning CSS).
making an entire website from scratch seemed daunting at first, so i referenced other users like A.N. Lucas and Oddity Commoddity for layout ideas and used graphics like the circuit board wallpaper that i recolored. i'm very grateful for all the resources others in the community have shared.
big shout out also to my partner Robin for helping with CSS styling and showing me that it's possible to build an older looking website using modern coding practices. their help with rewriting everything after my first attempt made it much easier to make future changes to the site and saved me many headaches but not from using MS Paint to painstakingly dither the nav buttons you used to get here :D
my eventual goal is to use this as the hub for my creations, writing, resources, and anything else i post then blow up and act like i don't know nobody. until then i am working hard to build my own homage to the early days of the world wide web.
thanks for stopping by. i love you
